    • I started out as a regular education Geometry teacher, then for my second year I was asked to be a part of the Sheltered English Instruction Program. I was ready for a change, and this one proved to fit me perfectly! I love the challenge of adapting lessons to reach English Language Learners. I learn more every day, and I hope my students do too. =)
    • Outside of the classroom, I work with the PULSE program and Debate Across the Curriculum. And of course, there is Math Club on Thursdays!

  • Previous Employer: St. Frances Academy, Baltimore, MD

    • "Established in 1828 SFA is an independent Catholic high school with African American and Hispanic roots. St. Frances Academy serves as an agent of positive change within its inner-city neighborhood."
    • SFA is where I fell in love with urban education. My first year at SFA I served as a CapCorps Volunteer, then stayed on for four more years. Some of my favorite memories are from running a peer tutoring program, revitalizing the community garden and traveling with students to Costa Rica.

Hobbies:

  • Since I moved to Boston I have become a little obsessed with running. In June I ran my first half marathon in Lake Placid, NY, followed by another in September in New Hampshire. Not long after, October 31st, I ran my first marathon...CRAZY!
    • In December I'm going to start training and raising money to run for the Boston Debate League in the Boston Marathon!
  • I LOVE to travel! 2010 was a very busy year of traveling for me: Baltimore, NYC, France (Paris), Spain (Barcelona, Madrid and Granada), Utah, Montana, Wyoming (Yellowstone National Park and Grand Tetons National Park), and of course back home to Michigan to visit my family. I have also traveled to Ireland (twice), England, Switzerland, Italy, Costa Rica (twice) and Canada.

  • I also enjoy yoga, hiking, reading, and messing around with the guitar. I wouldn't call it a hobby, but I'm also busy with planning my wedding in 2011! Busy hands are happy hands!
